FREE PROGRAM

A free program for
farm workers

and their immediate families.

+ All household members eligible

+ 16 years or older are eligible

+ Seeking GED or equivalent

+ Cannot be in school already

+ You are eligible if you can provide verification of:

• Worked for a minimum of 75 days (non consecutive is fine) of eligible agricultural work (you may qualify based on your work experience or that of a household family member contributing to the household income).

• Are eligible to participate or have participated in the Migrant Education Program or the National Farmworker Program.

+ Must have necessary forms to schedule and take the official G.E.D. exams: an official government photo ID: state or national identification, driver's license, passport, or other form of government issued ID (national or foreign).

+ Must take an entrance assessment: consisting of reading, language, and/or mathematics to qualify for acceptance by the MHEP program.

+ In-person classes at two offsite locations: Mesa and Avondale

+ Laptop and text books / study materials free to use

+ G.E.D. pre-testing and post-testing

+ Prepare for AZ Civics testing

+ Personalized vocational and academic counseling

+ School and Career Advise

+ Computer literacy education

+ Social & Cultural Activities

+ Support services to obtain a college degree or job training available

+ Referrals to social services as needed

MHEP Maricopa County High School Equivalency Program is a grant-funding program administered by tutors qualified to help you earn a GED or High School Equivalency without attending high school. Classes are conveniently conducted at two off-site locations in Mesa and Avondale and include private instruction and preparation as well as free materials to use for learning.
